Tips On Ink Or Toner Cartridges And The Best Time To
Replace Them
Toner is the ink in the printer, copier or fax machine which is responsible for the print.
This comes ready for installation, direct into the machine, inside a specific cartridge and it is always
recommended that the correct unit be used for specific machines.
This adds to the life and correct functioning of the printer, or copier and knowing when
to replace the toner cartridge is also important. Quite often you will receive a message on the machine telling you
to replace the ink, before it all seems to be necessary. The print is still good, but the LED tells you the toner
is low.
In instances like this, you know the machine is able to print quite a few more copies
before the ink exhausts itself, so you can actually safely print a few hundred more pages before the print quality
deteriorates. To get this to go that little bit further you can shake the cartridge. This revives the level of the
toner and helps to get a bit more value for money out of it. However if you are printing a big job, to ensure
consistent quality,it is always best to insert a new toner cartridge if the low message appears.
Always make sure that you have a replacement cartridge available, that way if the low
signal comes on, because there is nothing worse than being caught out without a spare, especially if you have a big
print job pending.
I hate that feeling of having to get out 100 packs for an Annual General Meeting, only to
find that in the middle of it all, you have 2000 blank copies of ruined paper and a 2 hour deadline, but no toner
cartridge.
It is very important to remember that these ink cartridges should not be removed if they
don't need to be replaced. They are not great for the environment and they are not great for your health either.
Always wash off any residue left on your skin, and if you have ever got this stuff on your clothes you will know
all about what a problem that can be.
These toner ink cartridges also need to be used before their expiry day, even if they are
unopened, so find out about recycling centers who will collect these from you. We found a very good recycling
center who donated all the proceeds from this process to an animal shelter, so local charities may also be willing
to help you out too.
Never try to take them apart yourself, just to see how they are made or work and they need
to be discarded according to specific local regulations. These are not the kind of items which are suitable for
landfills, where they may pollute the environment, recycling is always the best option.
Like all thing, handling toner ink cartridges requires care. Stick to the
manufacturers recommendations and you will be just fine. If you have any questions or concerns, it is always a
simple matter to just pick up the telephone and either call the supplier or your local waste management
company.
